Iyon na nga...the rest is history. Nabigo tayong lahat.

DURHAM, N.C. - All of the students expelled in a cheating scandal at the Duke University business school were from Asian countries, while other students were punished less severely, their attorney says.

Many of the students involved in the case at the Fuqua School of Business confessed instead of fighting the charges because of different cultural norms in their countries, Durham attorney Robert Ekstrand said.

"There is something else going on here, something that needs to be explained before we go forward with this, because it doesn't look right," Ekstrand said in Tuesday in The News & Observer of Raleigh.

In their home cultures, he said, "a confession or an admission of guilt can be a way to apologize." He said they sometimes wrote confession letters without understanding the specific accusations.

Officials disclosed last month that 34 business school graduate students were convicted of cheating on an exam and other assignments. Nine were expelled, and 15 were suspended for a year and given a failing grade in the class. The others received failing grades.

Ekstrand has filed appeals on behalf of 16 students.

The nine expelled students, all from Asian countries, would likely lose student visas and have to leave the country in the next couple of weeks if their appeals fail, Ekstrand said.

Duke officials have said students involved in the cheating case were from various countries, including the U.S. They declined to comment on the cases until appeals are completed next week.

"We must respect the confidentiality that the appeals process requires and our students deserve," said Mike Hemmerich.

The investigation began after a professor found similarities in answers to a take-home exam. In an appeal filed last week, Ekstrand said honor code violations were mostly minor and unintentional and questioned why some possibly exculpatory evidence was not given to students before the appeals.

My winner here is USA, I love the Elvis Presley concept matched with a rockstar attitude! It's a legendary approach to pay tribute to the Great Elvis who himself built a niche in the music industry. Elvis is a legend and Rachel is legendary in that costume! Philippines' is outright fabulous, I love the mask and how she presented herself, not much an expert in the catwalk but the face truly shines! Nobody's mentioning about Dominican Republic I think she pulls this off very nicely, It shows how Dominicans put a major importance to their marine resources and I admire them for that, imho this costume is better than Amelia Vega's number in 2003. Kazakhstan has another very nice costume here, I love last year's too. Colombia she looks very hija in that costume! completing my list are Angola, Venezuela, Mexico (I think she might win the costume award), Tanzania (looks so classy), India, Honduras, Ecuador, Peru, Korea (I love the drum) and China!
Overall there are great costumes this year compared to years past, in fact an evidence to this is my effort to share and talk about my favorite ones, makes me wanna go and watch it live!

MISS INDIA

MISS VENEZUELA

When in the past we would have a sensory overload of these two beauties from two pageant superpowers - this year the silence is deafening and very odd for both Misses India and Venezuela.

Despite the eerie but noticeable silence from the camps of both beauties, many pageant analysts this year are expecting both to be in the Final cut. You would just have to browse the numerous Top 15 lists listed in the pageant messageboards. Not to mention, both Misses India and Venezuela have been consistent among betmakers - placing both of them in Top 15.

So what's up with this deafening silence then? Have both Indian and Venezuelan pageant supporters learned their lessons that hyping one's own delegate does not help in the end where it counts?

Go figure!

5/22 - Swimsuit Preview - In addition to preliminary interviews, the contestants paraded in swimsuits for the judges at closed doors. They took notes which will be useful tomorrow night, when they will score all 77 delegates not only in swimsuits, but also in evening gowns.

- Second round of interviews today - Half of this year's Miss Universe delegates were interviewed yesterday, while the remaining half will be tested by the preliminary judges today. Based on the clip interviews available at the Miss Universe official site, candidates from India, South Africa, USA, Japan, Korea, Venezuela, Serbia, Jamaica, Spain, Mexico, Philippines, Greece, Tanzania, Angola, Indonesia and Guatemala are among those who are most likely to impress the judges. Others who could conquer the panel with their sparkling personalities and pull a surprise are Lebanon, New Zealand, China, Indonesia and Denmark.

The preliminary interviews are very important for the contestants to cause a positive first impression on the judges. Contestants who score high in this competition have a good chance to do well in the swimsuit and gown competitions and advance to the semi-finals. We must keep in mind that Miss Universe is looking for a young woman who will be working with the organization during an entire year, therefore, the interview is possibly the most important of the three competitions.

# EL WEBMASTER DE CRITICAL BEAUTY ATACA A LOS MEXICANOS! -- Jose Angel, Tuesday, May 22, 2007, 02:55:10pm [1] (sw01.verizon.com/166.68.134.174)
Jajajaja!!!

Elvis is alive and well - and she kicks ass!

• THE BOOING INCIDENT : The National Costume Presentation took place at the world-famous Angel of Independence Plaza in Mexico City yesterday. The event was free to the general public, which meant that anyone - crazies, loonies, perverts and intellectuals - could have hurled chimichangas or hurt any of the girls - but luckily none of this sort happened. Thank God! However, poor Miss USA Rachel Smith was booed by an unruly crowd. Wearing a well-fitted white Elvis Presley costume with dark glasses and guitar, Smith remained unhindered by the boos and like a true beauty queen, held her composure, gyrated her hips, strummed her guitar, and rock-n-rolled her way in and out of the stage, ever smiling! Watch a videoclip from the event in YouTube.

Flashback: 1993 in Mexico City's Auditorio Nacional. Miss USA Kenya Summer Moore was booed everytime her country's name was called by host Dick Clark. Why? No one exactly knows the reason, but it is now common knowledge that the Mexicans simply did not appreciate Moore and that the booing had not been caused by some political or cultural rift between the U.S. and Mexico. In last year's Miss Universe in Los Angeles, Miss USA Tara Conner was also booed by a predominantly Mexican audience at the Kodak Theatre, and it was understandable why specially in the light of George W. Bush's illegal immigration reforms and the increasing cultural and political clash between defenders of and protestors of illegal immigration. And this could also have been the reason Smith was booed during the National Costume show yesterday - ironically - at a plaza that symbolizes tolerance and freedom.

And because of this ugly booing incident, many pro-Rachel fans have sent angry e-mails to MUO accusing the organization for being neglectful of the safety of their candidate, and the lack of ample security overall. This anger is reflected on several message boards, specially the United States of Beauty forum where pro-Rachel fans - and staunch American citizens - are expressing strong resentment towards Mexicans ("Down with Mexico!" "Nuke Mexico City!" "Boycott Mexican goods!") Some observers have noted that MUO expected this kind of rowdiness from the Mexicans, that it is all part of the Mexican concept of entertainment: you get booed if you put on a bad show, and you get cheered if you put on a good show. Sounds like a universal concept to me!

But I don't think that the real problem is the Mexicans booing Miss USA; the real problem is MUO's gradual descent to the abyss of mediocrity. Does anyone want reminders? I do! First, it took MUO a considerable amount of time to find a suitable venue; they chose Mexico because it was cheaper and closer. Second, lesser countries are bidding to host the pageant. Mexico for the fourth time? What else is there to know about Mexico that we haven't seen through CNN, FOX news, Discovery Channel, YouTube, National Geographic, Univisión, Telemundo or telenovelas, and through personal trips to the country? There are nearly 200 countries in the world (and most of them broadcast Miss Universe), yet no one could come up with a fresher and lesser known country? Third, the quality of contestants has gone from sublime to profane (more and more countries are sending their national winners to Miss World). Fourth, significant activities have been cancelled (fashion show, cultural trips, and now - according to William's report - the cancellation of a coronation ball! I can't imagine Cinderella going straight to bed without partying after having found her glass slipper!). I could go on and on, and but I decided to spare you the misery! LOL!

No, the Mexicans should not be booing Miss USA; they should be booing MUO and their local officials who failed to control and discipline the booing crowd. The Mexicans should not be booing any of the candidates on stage; instead, they should be booing at the incredible injustices and barbaric cultural practices in their country, as expressed by sash-adorned local women protesting the brutal rapes, murders, false imprisonments, human rights abuses, and cruel bullfights. No, the Rachel Smith supporters shouldn't be condemning an entire nation for a possible isolated incident perpetrated by a few; instead, they should be condemning MUO for pretending that the booing would not happen again.

Imagine next year's Miss USA dressed up as a border patrol agent.

Subject: A NATIONAL OR GLOBAL BEAUTY QUEEN IS INDEED A REAL QUEEN, A SOCIAL QUEEN!

Author:
Analyst-Realist

Date Posted: 11:20:38 05/22/07 Tue

A critic and detractor said that a beauty contest / pageant winner and title holder is not a queen.

Well, what and how would you call a woman who is formally crowned (wears an official crown), bestowed an official scepter, and conferred an official title in a formal process (of election) through a national or international contest / competition which is also a stage presentation, a pageant, and a TV program/show in one?

She is called A BEAUTY QUEEN! A DIFFERENT KIND OF QUEEN! She is not a political queen like a nation-kingdom queen (monarch / royalty). She is not political. But A BEAUTY QUEEN is A SOCIAL QUEEN who functions as a national or international ambassador of goodwill and amity (as well as tourism), a national / international role model, environmental advocate, philanthropist, a humanitarian, etc.

But in the global scene or in GLOBAL SOCIAL STANDING, compared to a monarch or royalty (kingdom queen or king) and their counterparts (first lady, president or prime minister), the elected queens in the Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International major global competitions are REAL GLOBAL QUEENS (real global persons). Kingdom queens and heads of states are not. The country U.S.A. may be powerful because of its strong, large economy and military might, and can meddle and intervene in international conflicts, but its leader is designated as "U.S.A. President" or "President of the United States" country ONLY and not as "President of the World" or "World President" for there is none.

The election and coronation of a monarch or kingdom queen is only an internal affairs or event of a nation-kingdom (even if it is well-hyped through print and broadcast media internationally), while [b]the election and coronation of a world beauty queen (Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International) is GLOBAL, involving so many nations of all continents of the entire planet, and watched / witnessed on TV live at the same time by more than 2 BILLION people worldwide!

A world beauty queen is a global queen while a nation-kingdom queen (monarch or royalty) is NOT. Though a world beauty queen reigns for only a year, the extent or scope of her reign and queenship covers the entire / whole world, global and worldwide (indeed, she is a global queen); while the reign of a kingdom queen or monarch / royalty is LIMITED to her nation-kingdom or countries-colonies only.

a. From PBB forum:

Girls/guys, just got new info today from a super reliable source about the balik bahay and dionne!! (Trust me people, dayaan na talaga sa PBB)!!!

The PBB mgnt manipulated the scores because of the ratings. They are worry na lalong bumaba uli ang ratings nila. And the intriguing rumor about "wendy-dyogi" relationship. (Grabe na ito!!!!)
(Nel is so GAY!!! Bruce is manggagancho-gold digger!!! Wendy is such a Bi@%h!!!)

Alam ng PBB ang tungkol sa mga hinaing ng tao sa forum because they hire people to check the status of the show. They make a report every week about it..

Haay, kakaiba talaga ang season na ito.. I keep on wonndering what's with Wendy na dapat nilang ipanalo!!! And to think when Wendy was nominated together with Saicy and Dionne, si Wendy ang may pinakamababang rating. Nakakapagtataka. Big Brother is obviously favored some housemates. Kumbaga, may favoritism. This is so true. Akala nila bobo ang mga tao.

"Pls pass ds info to others.. so dey wil know wats really hapenin insde pbb2. kung my nggaw lng tlag kmi. " (text from my super reliable source)
---------------
What a revelation!!! And if Nel, Wendy or Bruce will be nominated, I hope people will not vote for them. .

More about Bruce gold digger!!!
Mga sis, from a very reliable source, the reason why hindi pwde sabihin ni Bruce about their relationship ni princess ba yun? is because of religion. jehovahs witness daw kse yung girl. super depressed n iyak daw ng iyak the now ex girlfriend to think na nung nagkasakit daw yung mommy ni bruce yung girl daw muna ang nagbayad and its a shinning 100k! Thats also the reason kung bakit sumali si bruce sa PBB, pra mag bayad ng utang sa girlfriend nya na sinaktan nya ng sobra becoz of his infatuation kay wendy! super hirap daw kse si bruce as in hand to mouth ang effect. i swear, ang sad tlga for the ex gf.

It's really sad for bruce's now ex gf, to put up with all of this. hindi man lang maging sensitvie si Big Brother about her bruised heart, tlgang pinipilit pang ipaglapit si wendy n bruce. sna lang tlga mabayaran ni bruce yung 100K na utang nya in any way kse kung hindi nakakahiya sha!! Sana mangyari to at makarma si BB.

pag nadelete to totoo to!! ( well hindi naman magsisinungaling ang kaibigan ko sa akin so totoo nga ito)
